Application of Management Control System for Comparison of Planned and Actual Performance of the Company and for Future Planning
Koubek, Ondřej ; Režňáková, Mária (referee) ; Žižlavský, Ondřej (advisor)
The master's thesis deals with application of Management Control System methods, described in theoretical part of the thesis. In analytical part, those methods are used for comparison of planned performance of individual trucks in the transport company with real performance of those trucks in year 2017. Detected deviations from the plan are further analysed, in order to identify their sources and to formulate corrective measures to eliminate them. This knowledge is put to use in the proposal part, in order to create plan for year 2018, which takes into account established facts and corrective measures from previous year. Finally, part of the plan for year 2018 is compared with real data collected by the company in that period, in order to assess the plan’s accuracy, identify deviations from the plan and their sources.
Comparison of Image Quality Measuring Methods
Škurla, Adam ; Klíma, Ondřej (referee) ; Bařina, David (advisor)
This thesis is aimed at image quality assessment methods and comparison of their performance regarding compression standards JPEG and JPEG 2000. First part provides information about image quality assessment basics, mentioning existing and used methods. The second part describes approach used to acquire subjective and objective rating of image quality. Further it compares obtained subjective ratings and ratings determined by objective methods. Conclusion provides an evaluation of obtained results and specification of the most suitable methods for measuring quality of images created by compression standards stated above.
Acceleration of Python Applications on GPU
Turcel, Matej ; Jaroš, Jiří (referee) ; Jaroš, Marta (advisor)
Compiled languages, such as C++, are conventionally used in the field of high performance computing (HPC). However, scripting languages like Python are more convenient and application development is quicker and simpler in these languages. This work compares C++ and Python in terms of the possibilities of computation acceleration on graphics card. Its aim is to show that scripting languages are also suitable for the implementation of HPC applications, and point out their advantages and disadvantages compared to compiled languages. To this purpose, a number of programs have been implemented. Several smaller programs for testing purposes and a larger one, implementing a computationally intensive problem. The implementations of these programs in C++ and Python are compared in terms of performance, as well as difficulty of implementation.

Development of methodics for performance comparison of data warehouse systems
Ronovský, Jan ; Pavlíček, Antonín (advisor) ; Meixner, Jiří (referee)
This thesis focuses on developing methodics for performance comparison of data warehouse systems. Firstly, the thesis defines data warehouses in various development stages of organization BI and describes knowledge about data warehouses. Methodics developed in the thesis describes architecture of standardized data warehouse, data flow between areas of data warehouse and processes in data warehouse. Understanding of these concepts is crucial for assurance of methodics applicability. Methodics offer logical progression of steps, which start and include testing of data warehouse systems. The contribution of the thesis is in having guide, what needs to be done when organization must do while testing various systems for data warehouses. Also it describes how this testing should be done on middle level detail, which is the absolute minimum level of abstraction that can be done due to wide applicability of methodics. Methodics offers solution to the problem of performance comparison when organization need to answer question - Which data warehouse system should we use in our organization? However, methodics expects already some knowledge about data warehouse content.
The ways of comparing performance of Oracle databases
Mareček, Aleš ; Chlapek, Dušan (advisor) ; Macák, Petr (referee)
This thesis examines ways of comparing performance of Oracle databases. The need to compare performance is given by making changes in database systems, for example changes in databases structures or database management systems. One of the goals of this thesis includes a description of options and ways of comparing performance of Oracle databases which does not involve any additional licensing costs. Because there is a need to evaluate obtained performance indicators, part of this thesis deals with the design and implementation tool, which allows analysis of data and their evaluation through defined reports. Functionality of the tool is verified and demonstrated on data obtained from real databases. The main contribution of this thesis is the implementation of the tool, which significantly facilitate evaluating performance impact of changes which should be made in the production database.
